School Council and Eco Committee

Children are at the heart of our school community. As a school we value the thoughts, ideas and opinions of all our children and the school council is one way of ensuring the voice of the children is heard and so has an impact on the development of the school.

Landscove school council meets twice every half term. The children involved are elected to the council by their peers. They take whole school issues and ideas from their own classmates and feed them into the meetings. They are also responsible for sharing ideas and decisions from the council with their class. Decisions made within school council can, and do have a real impact on the rest of the school.

The school council have a board in the entrance area showing who the councillors are and there is also a suggestion wallet for children to pop in ideas or suggestions they want raised at our meetings.
This year at Landscove we are aiming to become an Eco School. We have an Eco Committee that are involved in lots of exciting activities that have looking after the environment at the heart of them. Our action plan has a different focus each half term. We meet regularly to talk about and review the projects we are working on!
So far, we have been focusing on improving the school grounds and saving energy by being part of ‘Switch Off Fortnight’.
