What a difference pupil voice really can make!
Our children’s team have engaged with decision makers and secured a fabulous eco and sustainable set of results. Rather than replacing stock with our usual supplies we have made some changes – thanks to Mrs Grant for researching and negotiating on the children’s behalf! Firstly, every child in school is about to get their own glue stick, which is refillable, saving on single use plastic as well as on money. Our whiteboard pens (of which we get through hundreds) are being switched out for whiteboard pencils which are water soluble and biodegradable to go with bamboo fibre cleaning cloths for the whiteboards. RESULT!
Alongside this four members of the Eco team also met with myself, Mr A and a representative from a national campaign group Let’s Go Zero as the beginning of our aim to be zero carbon by 2030. This has enabled us to access funding and have all lights changed in school to LED. The change over is due to happen this coming half term.
Well done team ECO!
